Build your personal art collection print by print!  Learn the basics of printmaking and publishing with Joan Hall, artist, professor and former Director of Island Press, a research-based printmaking workshop at Washington University in St. Louis. Our guests will discuss the ever-changing market and the appeal of printmaking as a highly collected art form.

Mark Newport: Self-Made Man exhibition opens February 5 at Laumeier

February 5 – May 9, 2010

Laumeier Sculpture Park presents Mark Newport: Self-Made Man, an exhibition that explores the role of modern man and modern-day heroes. Opening February 5 and continuing through May 9, 2010, Newport’s human-scale, hand-knit superhero costumes, photographs, video and embroidered comic book covers will be shown in the Park’s indoor galleries.

Mark Newport will return to Laumeier on Saturday, April 3 for a gallery talk for the general public at 1 p.m. Knitters and the general public are welcome to join the artist at 2 p.m. for the Knit-In @ the Park event immediately following the April 3 gallery talk. Knit-In @ the Park will provide opportunities to knit with the artist, friends and new acquaintances among Laumeier’s sculptures and landscape.

Roberley Bell brings the outside in at Laumeier Sculpture Park

Laumeier Sculpture Park presents Roberley Bell: Inside Out, an exhibition that explores the relationship between the man-made and the natural with a focus on the artifice of nature.  Opening October 9 and continuing through January 10, 2010, Bell’s colorful and intricate sculptures will enliven the Park’s indoor galleries with a survey of her recent work including the Flower Blobs, the Wonder Series, and new indoor sculpture. 

Please join us this Friday for the opening reception from 6-8PM at Laumeier and an Artist Talk at Webster University on Friday from 12-1PM.

Opening Night

Opening Night of For the blind man in the dark room looking for the black cat that isn’t there is on September 11, 2009 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

There will also be special preview for members of the Contemporary beginning 6:00 pm.

Bring family and friends to the Contemporary on Opening Night to be among the first to view this new exhibition and mingle with international artists. There will be a cash bar and valet will be available.

Admission to Opening Night is free throughout the entire evening.
